Neighborhood Food Access
Part of the Yolo Food Bank COVID-19 Response
Nourishing Yolo County Residents Who Are Age 65+ or Health-Compromised Safely During the Pandemic
This program strives to pair the nearly 6,000 individuals previously benefiting from the Emergency Food Home Deliveries Program with ongoing nutritional support in a manner appropriate to each individual’s unique circumstances. All registered recipients were invited beginning mid-June 2020 to provide survey responses to assist Yolo Food Bank with guiding their path to the free, fresh food they need to stay healthy during this socio-economic crisis. As responses are received, these vulnerable individuals are navigated as follows:
- Individuals with vehicle access are invited to visit contactless, weekly “Eat Well Yolo” drive-through food distributions now located countywide.
- Individuals with a family member, friend, or neighbor who can access food on their behalf are asked to send their proxy to any of the dozens of weekly “Eat Well Yolo” walk-up fresh food distributions, or to a drive-through location. Face coverings are required and physical distancing protocols are observed at all sites.
- Individuals residing in specific senior citizens’ housing complexes may have dedicated, small-scale food distributions beginning soon at their facilities. Look for announcements soon!
- Individuals not meeting any of the criteria above may remain eligible for limited, every other week, home deliveries, available with the support of our partners at Farm Fresh To You.
While the program outline and details above are subject to change as community needs and resources dictate, Yolo Food Bank’s commitment to serving the nutritional needs of Yolo County’s most vulnerable residents will not change for the duration of the COVID-19 disaster — and beyond. It is our mission and our honor to provide them with dependable food access.
