Meet Nick! 👋

Nick, a 26-year-old resident of Davis, began attending our Public Community Food Distribution at University Covenant Church during the pandemic. He works as a bartender and, like many, finds that even with stable employment, the rising costs of living necessitate additional... support to get by. "Everything is so expensive, and the fresh produce and protein I receive from Yolo Food Bank are a huge help," he explains.

In addition to his job, Nick is also a caretaker for his mother, who is battling cancer. With increased financial pressure, the need for nutritious food to support both of their health is top of mind for him. Initially reluctant to seek help, Nick's perspective has shifted: "I didn't like coming at first because I've always had a job and my own money, but I've realized there is no shame. Davis is a tight-knit community, and everyone helps each other out." 🤗
