Yolo Food Bank’s 3rd Annual Golf Tournament: A Swinging Success!

What began as a friendly competition between Yolo Food Bank’s Operations Department and the staff at Nugget Market has blossomed into one of our most anticipated events of the year.

Tournament

The 18-hole tournament was played as a four-person scramble, and we had local businesses, volunteers, individual donors, and staff come together for a fun and competitive day on the greens! The event was held at the beautiful, yet challenging, Wildhorse Golf Club. Players were met with refreshing drinks, snacks, and engaging games throughout the day, adding an extra layer of excitement and enjoyment to the event. Yolo Food bank staff members and volunteers interacted with players throughout the course, making the experience not just about golf but also about bringing the Yolo Food Bank community closer together.

A Record Breaker!

This year, participation more than doubled! Over 120 community members came out to join us for a day of fun, camaraderie, and most importantly, support for a great cause. We are also thrilled to announce that we met our fundraising goal. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our participants, we raised over $30,000 — more than doubling last year’s fundraising amount. We are so grateful for the support we garnered from everyone who participated!

More Fun on the 19th Hole

The day’s activities didn’t end on the greens. After a spirited round of golf, participants enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Yolo Food Bank’s Operations Department, led by Yolo Food Bank’s own staff member, Laura Vasquez.

The luncheon provided a perfect opportunity for participants to relax, mingle, and reflect on the day’s events. A feature of the hour was the announcement of raffle winners, who won a variety of exciting items and experiences.

After much anticipation, awards were presented to foursomes for the first, second, and third place winners with Best Overall Score for the tournament. Awards were also given for activities, including longest drive and closest to the pin. Congratulations to the overall winner, Team Mariani Nut Company, who came out on top with a score of 61!
