WHO WE ARE

The Yolo Food Bank was established in 1970.  From the beginning, our dedicated staff and Board of Directors have made it our mission to fight hunger in Yolo County.  We partner with communities and other non-profits to distribute food to our neighbors in need.

Position Summary: 

Working as part of a team, this position is responsible for day-to-day physical operations and appearance in the partner agency store within the warehouse, including receiving, handling and inventorying donated goods. Customer service skills are a must as you will be interacting with our partner agencies helping them to purchase food for their charities. The position may also perform a variety of warehouse duties that have some physical demands, require attention to detail and working well with others, and the ability to understand and meet regulatory and safety requirements. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience, skills and personal attributes, with truck driving experience preferred:

  1. Receiving and inventory responsibilities:
  2. Accurately account for all product received and transferred between the Nutrition Center and the warehouse.
  3. Update product inventory in electronic inventory system(s); assist with inventory cycle counts and reconciliation of inventory logs.
  4. Inspect donated goods for damage or spoilage and report any problems to supervisor. Rotate existing produce to ensure old product is used first.
  5. Check product expiration dates to ensure code dates are within regulatory limits. 
  6. Use a forklift and/or pallet jack to organize and place product on shelves or storage/loading areas as appropriate and in a safe, efficient and useful manner as needed to create appropriate arrangements for staging.
  7. Load and unload pallets and/or boxes of donated goods upon delivery and complete receiving logs and orders paperwork, including pounds distributed.
  8. Provide customer service to our partner agencies and those who use the store.
  9. Warehouse cleanliness:
  10. Keep loading dock area, sorting area and store clean and ready at all times. 
  11. Maintain clean and safe Warehouse facilities and refrigeration, including outdoor areas related to warehouse operations, and inform supervisor of any storage-related problems.  Tasks may include mopping, sweeping, dusting, etc.
  12. Perform pest inspections daily, including reporting trap status.
  13. Perform housekeeping and other sanitation tasks as needed.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Fill in for other warehouse operations staff as required.
  2. Serve as a resource as needed for other warehouse staff, volunteers or community service workers so they can perform tasks correctly and safely.
  3. Perform all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Strong ability to meet physical requirements for meeting expectations in a warehouse environment. 
  2. Able to work in a warehouse environment or at distribution sites with physical and weather-related demands, with or without accommodation.
  3. Can manage multiple projects with attention to detail, handle multiple interruptions, maintain focus on tasks, and produce accurate work.
  4. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers.  
  5. Can work independently as well as part of a team.
  6. Able to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide whole numbers) with minimum 95% accuracy.
  7. Able to prepare and maintain accurate records so they can be understood and located quickly when needed.
  8. Can utilize computer (e.g., send/receive email, complete electronic timecards, prepare basic correspondence) and maintain warehouse operations equipment (e.g., pallet jacks) in compliance with safety practices and procedures.
  9. Can perform multiple tasks within deadlines and upgrade skills as needed to meet changing job conditions.
  10. Able to adhere to safety practices, legal and regulatory requirements, and YFB policies.
  11. Can operate equipment safely and efficiently in warehouse operations.

Certificates and Licenses:

  1. Valid California driver’s license and evidence of insurability

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary range is $20.00-$24.00 per hour depending on experience, plus benefits including, 4 weeks Paid Time Off, 10 paid holidays, medical, dental and vision insurance, 403(b) retirement plan match, Flexible Spending Accounts, employer paid life insurance, Employee Assistance Program and $100.00/year YFB clothing allowance.
