Meet Pati! Pati is a Dunnigan resident who first encountered Yolo Food Bank over a decade ago as a food recipient. Now she’s a Hunger Hero volunteer for Yolo Food Bank and has gotten her ENTIRE family to volunteer too! She’s the community’s go-to person when individuals have questions about food assistance programs and resources. Many look to her not only as a mentor, but also as a friend. As a farmworker, Pati nourishes her community every day harvesting in and around Yolo County fields and vineyards. When she volunteers at Yolo Food Bank’s “Eat Well Yolo” food distribution at Campers Inn RV Park in Dunnigan, she arrives straight from work. She derives great satisfaction when she sees the response from the children that come and avail themselves of food at each distribution: “They treat the food they receive as gifts!”
“The way you see me is how I am – I just got off work. Sometimes I am very tired, but the fatigue goes away once I see the people’s faces light up after receiving their groceries.”
With the help of Family Action Centers of Colusa County, Pati has been connecting her Dunnigan community with free groceries from Yolo Food Bank for over 15 years. She believes in the importance of setting an example for younger generations to help their neighbors. We’re beyond grateful for Pati’s dedication to nourishing her community through her work AND volunteerism.
Pati is truly a Hunger Hero and champion for her community.
